Viiroqua NewsThe 1st annual Green Home show will take place this weekend at the Public Market @ Main Street Station. "Green", simply meaning living in harmony with the Earth , in a manner as healthy for both human and Earth as possible. It really is logical, when you think about it. Green living can start anytime, and even a bit "green" is better than none at all!

As we started to plan this event, it become more and more clear that this type of show would be very appropriate for the area. Our beloved driftless region has evolved into a Mecca of organic farming and living. Organic Valley and Harmony Valley Farms being two of the more prominent examples from a notoriety, revenue, and respect point of view.

However, even those folks not necessarily into "organic", share with those that do something universal. We all have a deep respect for the earth, and what we can harvest from her to live. We all appreciate the necessary and delicate relationship with the Earth that we humans must sustain. My father-in-law, a former dairy farmer with four generations in the area, told me before there even was organic farming, he basically had the same intense connection to the land, today's organic farmers do. It seems most of us here do not shield ourselves from the Earth, as others do, but rather, allow her to embrace us.

This home show, though in its first year has the potential to draw a regional and maybe eventually a national crowd to the area. The venue is right, the town and land are fitting and the people are ready. Let us together make this one great home show!
